Classic Car Insurance for a Cause

We at Peter Best Insurance are proud to support Ranjan Thilagarajah on his trip abroad. Nothing special in that, you may ask. Why announce this?
Well, the brief history behind this is as follows:
Ranjan has owned this 1954 Austin A40 Somerset since he was 14 years old. He and Brother Mike got the car running and it became his daily means of transport through medical school and as a junior doctor.
In 1995, what was thought to be a minor repair was found to be a major one and the car was laid up for a number of years. In this time Ranjan became a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford and talk of the famous Monte Carlo Rally with a Consultant Anaesthetist grew into the idea of actually competing.

The A40 was re-built by Auto Body Care, a Mini restoration specialist in Braintree. 18 long months later, the car was ready and accepted for the Monte Carlo Rally for January 2007.

This is where Peter Best Insurance gets involved. We are insuring Ranjan and his brother to drive the car to Monte-Carlo where it will be transported back to the UK in early February. From there, the car will have pride of place on the PBIS sponsorship stand at the 2007 London Classic Car Show at Alexandra Palace.

All this is not just for fun; there is a very serious reason for going. Ranjan and everyone who works with him are attempting to raise sufficient funds for a Holmium Laser; £200,000 to be exact. This piece of essential kit is the latest in surgical laser technology. In urology, it is used in the early stage treatment of bladder cancer avoiding the need for general anaesthetic or hospital stay. Kidney stones can be treated with the minimum of discomfort. It is also used in the treatment of enlarged prostates in men avoiding many of the side effects experienced with the traditional methods of treatment.
